The evolution of international economic relations in recent years has prompted the Russian Federation to reconsider its role in the neighborhood and on the global stage. In particular, the Ukrainian crisis and the Western economic sanctions against Russia clearly show conflicts of interest between major powers under the multipolar order. In this case, the Russian Federation is working to strengthen its foreign policy diversification, including economic and political cooperation with Asian countries.

México impone tarifas a importaciones de Estados Unidos: Nosotros, los consumidores, pagamos el precio.

El 5 de junio del 2018, México se unió a un ejército de países que han decidido aplicar tarifas en represalia a los impuestos aplicados por Estados Unidos al metal y al acero. Los impuestos, dentro un rango de 15-25%, se aplicarán a comida, alcohol y metal. Se esperan alzas en los precios del jamón, el queso, las papas, las manzanas, derivados porcinos, así como del famoso whisky Bourbon. Estas tarifas serán impuestas cuando los bienes sean importados de Estados Unidos a México, resultando en un aumento de precio considerable para los consumidores de entre el 20-25%.

Annual Conference on International trade: Brazil in the 20 years of the WTO

The CGTI/FGV organizes, at the end of each academic year, a national conference on International Trade to the Brazilian audience, especially policymakers, government staff, practitioners and academics. The main topic was to debate the participation of Brazil in 20 years of the WTO. Besides that, it was also discussed the new Brazilian government and an opportunity to review Brazil Trade Policy, which made the presence of policymakers and government staff even more relevant. The Role of the WTO in the 21st Century - Launching of the WTO Chair in Brazil

The Center on Global Trade and Investment at the FGV School of Economics presented the International Conference on THE ROLE OF THE WTO IN THE 21ST CENTURY. On this occasion, the WTO Chair Programme in Brazil was launched. The Conference brought together practitioners, policymakers and academics engaged in trade discussions. The Conference was held in São Paulo, Friday December 5th, 2014, at School of Economics of Getulio Vargas Foundation, Auditório Itau-FGV.
 

The future of the WTO in a Multipolar World with Mr. Pascal LAMY

The Center for Global Trade and Investment Studies of the FGV School of Economics invites interested practitioners, government staff and academics to the International Conference on the Future of WTO in a Multipolar World with Mr. Pascal Lamy.

Mr. Pascal Lamy is the former Director-General of the WTO, acting from September 2005 to August 2013. The Conference will focus on important issues to the World Trading System, specifically on the impacts of preferential trade agreements and mega-agreements to the WTO.
