Trade Negotiation Simulation

This course centers on the theory and practice of international trade negotiations. The theoretical component comprises two main parts: the first covers the fundamental concepts of international trade negotiations, while the second explores basic theories of international trade negotiations from different perspectives, including economics, law, psychology, and culture. In the practical component, simulated scenarios are provided to conduct classroom simulation exercises focusing on the written drafting and oral negotiation skills required for international trade negotiations.

International Trade Negotiations Theory and Practice

This book is divided into three parts, totalling 10 chapters. Elaborate on the concepts, theories, and techniques of international trade negotiations in a sequential manner. The first part is about the basic concepts of international trade negotiations, which includes two chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the concept, characteristics, classification, and principles of negotiation. Chapter 2 focuses on introducing the concept, characteristics, and development history of international trade negotiations.

International Trade Negotiations

This course was organized jointly by the WCP Chair in Beijing and LEDECO Centre Swiss. Participants engage with expert speakers on topics including WTO reform and China's role, non-market economic challenges in WTO reform, negotiation mechanisms and decision-making procedures of the WTO General Council, as well as special concerns for least developed countries and balancing rights and obligations among WTO members.

Joint Statement Initiatives: A Legitimate End to ‘Until Everything is Agreed’?

At World Trade Organization (WTO), nothing is agreed until everything is agreed and until everyone agrees at the negotiating tables, and that ‘magic’ moment has been difficult to arrive at. Some WTO Members have argued that if all Members cannot move ahead together with the acceptance of new rules, the Members who are able and willing to move ahead should be provided with the required space to do so. Some Members have indeed chosen to push ahead as they have recently sought progress in negotiations through the Joint Statement Initiatives (JSIs).
