The WTO Chair in Mexico hosted an event on 29th April to launch the joint publication on “Trade Finance in Central America and Mexico” in Mexico City. It was launched by Deputy Director-General Johanna Hill and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Global Director Nathalie Louat in Mexico City. The report focuses on three developing economies in Latin America (Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico), underlining how access to trade finance is essential for firms to capitalize on trade opportunities by managing risks and securing working capital.

International organizations and development banks can also play a key role through capacity building, liquidity support and risk-sharing facilities.

The launch was followed by a presentation of the report and a panel discussion bringing together representatives of the WTO, IFC, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Mexican government and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
