Caiphas Chekwoti

Dr. Chekwoti is a Ugandan trade policy expert and Head of The Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA) . He holds a PhD degree in economics from the University of Dar es Salaam and is passionate about the role that trade can play in the sustainable transformation and integration of African economies in the global trade regime. He has over 25 years’ experience in training at university level and has been involved in international trade policy training for over 10 years. Before joining TRAPCA, he was a lecturer of Economics at Makerere University, Uganda. Prior to teaching, he was an economist in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning IN  Uganda. He has been involved in various research and consultancy activities on trade policy as well as sustainable development issues. His research interests include trade reforms, regional integration, rules of origin, innovation, services, and firm competitiveness.
