Michel Levi

Associate Professor. Coordinator of the Andean Center for International Studies.

Michel Levi is Associate Professor at the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar sede Ecuador, Coordinator of the Andean Center for International Studies, the Jean Monnet European Studies Program and since 2022 the World Trade Organization Chair.  

He has been visiting professor in different universities around the world. For twelve years he was lecturer at the Grenoble Law Faculty and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques SciencesPo at the Université Grenoble Alpes in France; the Chair Jean Monnet of Comparative Regionalism of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the Postgraduate of Law in International Business Law of the University of Macau, China; at the chair of International Business y Society Relations focused in Latin America at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany; and at the School of International Studies of the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica. 

Doctor Levi is researcher at the Center of Studies and Research on Diplomacy, Public Administration and Politics (CERDAP2) laboratory at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques SciencesPo of the University Grenoble Alpes in France, and at the Jean Monnet Projects, appointed by the European Commission: Relations between the European Union and Latin America: Future scenarios in a changing world (Universidad de Concepción, Chile) and The Reconfiguration of the European Union role in Latin America EUinLAC (University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany). 

In other responsibilities, he was academic coordinator of the World Trade Organization Regional Trade Policiy Course for Latin American officers held in Quito, Ecuador at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar Sede Ecuador (2015-2017).  

Michel Levi holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and a master’s degree (DES) in International and European Law from the Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium. He is doctoral candidate (Ph.D.) in Political Science at the Université Grenoble Alpes, France.

His research interests are: Latin American, European and comparative regionalism, regional integration; Ecuadorian and Andean foreign policy; Ecuadorean and Andean Trade policy and preferential agreements.
