World Trade Law Course

This course focussed on the laws, principles, functioning and jurisprudence of World Trade Law. Students looked at the principles of multilateral and bilateral trade and engaged with the practice of international trade law with the help of current jurisprudence and hypothetical dispute scenarios. The students received an appreciation of the purpose and functions of the WTO and be familiar with its principal rules, impact and jurisprudence.

The forty-first UNCTAD regional course on key issues on the international economic agenda organized by the University of Nairobi, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya. Covered the following topics: 

Annual Conference on International trade: Brazil in the 20 years of the WTO

The CGTI/FGV organizes, at the end of each academic year, a national conference on International Trade to the Brazilian audience, especially policymakers, government staff, practitioners and academics. The main topic was to debate the participation of Brazil in 20 years of the WTO. Besides that, it was also discussed the new Brazilian government and an opportunity to review Brazil Trade Policy, which made the presence of policymakers and government staff even more relevant. The Role of the WTO in the 21st Century - Launching of the WTO Chair in Brazil

The Center on Global Trade and Investment at the FGV School of Economics presented the International Conference on THE ROLE OF THE WTO IN THE 21ST CENTURY. On this occasion, the WTO Chair Programme in Brazil was launched. The Conference brought together practitioners, policymakers and academics engaged in trade discussions. The Conference was held in São Paulo, Friday December 5th, 2014, at School of Economics of Getulio Vargas Foundation, Auditório Itau-FGV.
 

The future of the WTO in a Multipolar World with Mr. Pascal LAMY

The Center for Global Trade and Investment Studies of the FGV School of Economics invites interested practitioners, government staff and academics to the International Conference on the Future of WTO in a Multipolar World with Mr. Pascal Lamy.

Mr. Pascal Lamy is the former Director-General of the WTO, acting from September 2005 to August 2013. The Conference will focus on important issues to the World Trading System, specifically on the impacts of preferential trade agreements and mega-agreements to the WTO.
