Regulatory measures on cross-border data flows are essential to personal data protection laws. The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) of the European Union (“EU”) is one of such influential personal data protection regimes, which has become a model and has been adopted by many countries. The GDPR aims to ensure the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data. To protect personal data outside the EU, the GDPR provides certain safeguards for its movement across the EU border.

A Chinese Perspective on WTO Reform

This book discusses the most recent developments in the WTO regime. Issues such as E-commerce, security exception clause, China's compliance with the WTO obligations, sustainability development, IP protection in FTZs, trade controls and etc., are at the forefront of WTO studies. These issues strongly influence people's understanding of the current role of WTO and provides possible way to revitalize the function of WTO.

WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION (WTO) LAW AND TRADE-01 LAW, at Koc University, Istanbul

The course focuses on the laws, principles, functioning and jurisprudence of International Trade Law. Students understand the principles of multilateral and bilateral trade and engage with the practice of international trade law with the help of current jurisprudence and hypothetical dispute scenarios. The students receive an appreciation of the purpose and functions of the WTO and be familiar with its principal rules, impact and jurisprudence. Students learn with a unique combination of lectures, class discussions and practice exercises.

Global Trade and Customs Journal, Volume 17, Issue 2 (2022) pp. 81 – 90 The World Trade Organization (WTO) has three main functions: (i) it provides a negotiation forum where Members can negotiate new agreements and understandings, (ii) it provides a judicial forum where trade disputes between countries can be settled, and (iii) it acts as an executive forum for the administration and application of the WTO agreements, including capacity-building and training in this respect. Currently, it is only performing its executive function, as the other two functions remain stalled.

Theoretical concepts of trade policy development and analysis: Evolution and modern challenges in the context of the international trading system transformation

The study of the trade policy concepts within a framework of hyper globalization and global regulation system transformation requires new theoretical and methodological approaches. On the one hand, trade policy design and implementation is closely linked to a wide range of issues from e-commerce to gender inequality. On the other hand, the newest trade theory focuses on studying the companies’ export activities, their participation in global value chains and their trade costs. In addition, research methodology for various quantitative methods has grown significantly.
