Are the digital and inclusive growth agendas compatible? Implications for trade policy in developing countries

Can the digital economy help to alleviate the problem of inequality and forge more inclusive growth or will it exacerbate divisions as time goes by, to the detriment of those countries (including South Africa, India and Brazil) that have among the most unequal societies in the world? And what are the implications for trade policy, especially in developing countries?

Workshop on E-Commerce in cooperation with the WCP Team Member Assoc. Prof. Leyla Keser Berber and Bilgi Uni. IT Law Institute

The E-Commerce Workshop, organized in collaboration with Bilgi University’s IT Law Institute, was held on October 14th, 2017 at the Santral Istanbul Campus. Representatives of the Ministry of Customs and Trade (now Ministry of Trade), the private sector, and NGOs had participated. A joint agenda was set up and is now followed by all stakeholders in relation to the taxation of e-commerce, determination of the type of products that may or may not be sold on e-commerce sites as well as sanctions, the revisions that should be made in e-commerce legislation, and devising new business models.

Ce cours a pour objectif principal la maitrise du fonctionnement des marches internationaux des changes et des instruments qui y sont utilisés. Aujourd’hui avec la
déréglementation qui se généralise les acteurs doivent maîtriser les mécanismes du marché et les instruments négociés. Ce cours va s’intéresser aux marchés des changes, aux marchés des produits dérivés qui permettent la couverture des risques et au marché des matières premières et de l’energie.

CDP4: IV Workshop on the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS): A relevant course for policymakers and practitioners to enhance the knowledge of the Trade in Services and E-commerce while motivates policymakers and practitioners to pursue further qualifications in the field. The course was given by Mr. Martin Roy and Ms. Lee Tuthill on the rules of the GATS and e-commerce at FGV-SP 7-9 November 2018.
