This course introduces and analyzes legal issues concerning trade-related intellectual property from multiple perspectives. The main content encompasses the following four aspects:
(1) Introduction to the origins and historical development of international intellectual property protection. Enables students to gain a clear understanding of the origins and evolution of the trade-related intellectual property system.
(2) Comparative analysis of the similarities and differences between the systems of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Trade Organization in regulating international intellectual property. Enables students to acquire a clear understanding of the similarities and differences between these two major global international organizations, which are most closely related to trade-related intellectual property protection, across various aspects of regulating intellectual property matters in international trade.
(3) Focuses on introducing and explaining the TRIPS Agreement within the WTO system from multiple perspectives.
(4) Provides a concise overview of new developments in intellectual property matters within the international economic and trade sphere since the entry into force and implementation of the TRIPS Agreement.
