SUIBE held the 2024 International Organizations and Global Governance Forum, addressing topics such as the WTO’s 30th anniversary and global power dynamics.
On November 8, 2024, SUIBE held the 2024 International Organizations and Global Governance Forum. The forum was organized by the School of Global Governance, WTO Chair Institute-China, WTO RTPC, and Global Competence Centre of SUIBE. The forum centered on the themes such as “30th Anniversary of the WTO: Retrospect and Prospect” and “The New Dynamics of Great Power Competition and Global Governance”. Over 200 participants, including YI Xiaozhun, former Vice Minister of MOFCOM and former Deputy Director-General of the WTO; CHEN Yusong, Deputy Director of the Department of World Trade Organization Affairs of MOFCOM; HONG Xiaodong, former Director of the Department of World Trade Organization Affairs of MOFCOM and current researcher at the China Society for World Trade Organization Studies (CWTO); Torbjörn Fredriksson, Head of E-commerce and Digital Economy at the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); Rolf Traeger, Director of the Least Developed Countries Division at UNCTAD; WANG Rongming, President of SUIBE; XU Yonglin and JIANG Xiuzhen, Vice Presidents of SUIBE; LU Xiankun, Founder of the Friends of Multilateralism Group (FMG) in Geneva, Switzerland, and former Counselor of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the WTO; QU Bo, Director of the Institute of International Relations at China Foreign Affairs University; as well as experts, scholars, faculty, and students from both inside and outside SUIBE, attended the forum. ZHANG Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the WTO; Patrick Low, former Chief Economist of the WTO; and Paul Akiwumi, Director of the Division for Africa, LDCs and Special Programmes at UNCTAD, participated in the forum via online video.
