Second MENA Trade Workshop on “Trade, WTO and Food Security”

The WTO Chair at Sultan Qaboos University hosted the Second MENA Trade Workshop “Trade, WTO and Food Security” on March 21 and 22, 2015. The two-day workshop has discussed the linkage between trade, WTO and food security as well as other trade related issues. The event was an opportunity for interested academicians and practitioners from the region to present their findings and discuss food security in light of the challenges presented by limiting natural resources and international market instability. The chairholder of Oman made a presentation on “Food security and WTO: Policy Space for MENA in the WTO Agreement on Agriculture, which highlighted the role of WTO in addressing food security in developing countries. Around 70 particpants from the region and representatives from various Ministries in Oman attended the workshop.
