World Trade Law Course

This will introduce students to the law of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Students will learn to analyze and interpret WTO law in light of the history and structure of the WTO, the rules of treaty interpretation and the political economy of international trade. Topics will include trade in goods (GATT, TBT Agreement), WTO dispute settlement, trade in services (GATS) and intellectual property. In this context, the course will also consider the relationship between the WTO and regional trade agreements, such as NAFTA, and other treaties on intellectual property rights that are incorporated by reference into WTO law.
