Workshop: Trade and Sustainability: Challenges and Possibilities, by CAZMEX and American Society of International Economic Law
Mexico - 3 March 2022
Trade topics: Trade and Development, Gender and Trade, Sustainability
This was a workshop on “Trade and Sustainability: Challenges and Possibilities” from March 3-5, 2022 in Tucson, Arizona at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. The workshop brought together about two dozen scholars and practitioners for a conversation on the cutting edge issues at the intersection of trade agreements and sustainable development, an increasingly salient concern in trade policymaking. It focussed on the most recent trade agreements and disputes, in which sustainability considerations are no longer restricted to exceptions but included as self-standing, enforceable obligations.
My intervention waa focussed on social sustainability, particularly on trade agreements in connection with gender and gender rights.
