Presentation on “Trade Agreements, Women Business and the Pandemic of COVID-19” at the Workshop on Gender Equality and Private Sector: The Business Case of Trade and Gender, Meeting of Informal Working Group on Trade and Gender, Geneva, Switzerland.
Mexico - 12 October 2022
The Informal Working Group on Trade and Gender brought together WTO members and observers seeking to intensify efforts to increase women's participation in global trade. It was established in September 2020 as a follow-up to the Joint Declaration on Trade and Women's Economic Empowerment launched at the 2017 Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires. Together with the head of the trade and gender division at the WTO, Dr. Amrita Bahri, Co-Chair Professor, WTO Chairs Programme (Mexico), presented research on how trade agreements can help women overcome the barriers that impede their entrepreneurial potential and help their businesses sustain the pandemic-inflicted market disruptions.
