A three-day course on trade and climate change took place from 10 to 12 November 2016 as part of the Postgraduate Programme on Law and Economics of Climate Change at the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. FLACSO is a member of the WTO Chairs Programme, which aims to support trade-related activities by universities and research institutions in developing countries.
The course focused on the Paris Agreement, its trade-related aspects and the linkages with WTO rules and institutional roles. It also addressed disputes relating to environmental protection at the WTO, the Doha Round negotiations on environmental goods and multilateral environmental agreements.
It is the fourth time the course has been held. It was attended by 26 participants from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay. The sessions were webcast live and were also recorded as a webinar for the benefit of those unable to attend.
