International Trade in the New Context: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnamese Agricultural Products

On November 8, 2024, a high-level conference titled “International Trade in the New Context: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnamese Agricultural Products” was held in Bac Lieu, Vietnam. The event was jointly organized by Foreign Trade University and the University of Economics and Law (VNU-HCM), with the support of the Bac Lieu Department of Industry and Trade.
The conference opened with remarks from university leaders and local government representatives, emphasizing the strategic importance of agricultural trade in Vietnam’s economic development. The first session featured expert presentations on the current landscape of international trade and its implications for Vietnam’s agricultural sector. Speakers addressed key issues such as innovation in agricultural policy, trade strategy, and the positioning of Vietnamese products in global markets.
The second session was a roundtable discussion that brought together policymakers, academics, and industry leaders. Participants shared practical experiences and insights on trade management, legal frameworks, and export strategies, particularly in the seafood and rural development sectors. The discussion highlighted both the opportunities and the regulatory, logistical, and market-access challenges facing Vietnamese agricultural exports.
