On 8th November 2024, the National University of Lesotho – WTO Chair, through its International Trade Club, hosted a vibrant and impactful event under the theme “Youth in Action: Building Climate Change Adaptability and Resilience for Sustainable International Trade in Lesotho.” The event combined a symbolic Fun Walk with a Youth Symposium, creating a dynamic platform for awareness, dialogue, and action on the intersection of climate change and international trade.
The Fun Walk, which began at the NUL Campus and proceeded to St. Michaels, emphasized the importance of health, unity, and collective responsibility in addressing climate challenges. It was followed by a symposium at Tropicana Lounge, where students, faculty, and guest speakers engaged in panel discussions and interactive sessions on climate change impacts, trade competitiveness, and youth-led solutions for resilience and sustainability.
Key presentations addressed the effects of climate change on agriculture, manufacturing, and water resources; strategies for maintaining trade competitiveness; and the critical role of youth in driving climate adaptation. The event concluded with a return walk to Roma, reinforcing the message of active participation and community engagement.
