The International Law on Trade in Services course (PLUE434) is a core component of the Bachelor of Laws program with a specialization in International Trade Law at Foreign Trade University. This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks governing international trade in services, focusing on the World Trade Organization (WTO) General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), as well as relevant provisions in bilateral and regional free trade agreements (FTAs).
Students will explore the principles, scope, and regulatory methods of trade in services, analyze commitments made by WTO members and FTA partners, and examine legal frameworks within the EU and ASEAN. The course emphasizes the development of legal research and consultancy skills, enabling students to interpret service schedules, resolve disputes, and provide legal advice on trade in services. It also fosters a professional attitude and adherence to international legal standards in the practice of international trade law.
