Twenty participants from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico took part in a three-day course on trade and climate change from 5 to 7 October 2017 at the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO), a member of the WTO Chair Programme. The course was held as part of the Postgraduate Programme on Law and the Economics of Climate Change.
The course focused on the Paris Agreement, its trade-related aspects and the linkages with WTO rules and institutional roles. It also addressed disputes relating to environmental protection at the WTO, the multilateral and plurilateral negotiations on environmental goods and the relationship between WTO rules and multilateral environmental agreements.
It is the fifth time the course has been held. Live webcasting of the sessions was undertaken.
