Trade in services
This course offers an in-depth exploration of the economic and legal dimensions of international trade in services, with a focus on both multilateral frameworks such as the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and regional initiatives like the AfCFTA. Delivered through a blend of pre-session assignments, intensive on-site instruction at the trapca/ESAMI campus in Arusha, Tanzania, and post-session assessments, the course combines theoretical foundations with practical applications.
Through lectures, simulations, and hands-on exercises, students engage with real-world challenges in services negotiations, assess regulatory barriers, and develop strategies for liberalization and policy reform. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to analyze, negotiate, and implement services trade policies that support inclusive and sustainable economic development.
