Deadline: Call for papers TTRA Asia Pacific Annual Chapter Conference 2025 Conference Theme

Namaste!
TTRA APAC chapter and Kathmandu University invites scholars, practitioners, and
industry experts to be part of the engaging presentations, workshops and
discussions on how regenerative tourism can shape the future of the hospitality
and tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Join us to redefine and assess the
potential of regenerative tourism in enriching people, places and the planet. This
conference challenges academics and professionals in the hospitality and tourism
industry to explore new frameworks, policies, and practices that contribute to a
self-sustaining, resilient, and regenerative tourism ecosystem.
Nepal, the land of peace and natural beauty, serves as the ideal backdrop for this
conversation - where ancient wisdom, cultural heritage, and environmental
consciousness converge to shape the future of tourism.
Why Regenerative Tourism?
Regenerative tourism goes beyond sustainability. While sustainability focuses on
minimizing harm, regenerative tourism aims to actively restore, replenish, and
revitalize destinations - benefiting both the environment and local communities. The
approach draws inspiration from ecological and indigenous knowledge systems,
advocating for holistic, nature-based, and community-driven solutions that reshape
tourism as a force for renewal.
The transition to a regenerative mindset requires a paradigm shift in tourism
research, policy, and practice. This conference provides a space for interdisciplinary
dialogue - bringing together insights from urban planning, environmental science,
hospitality, cultural studies, policy-making, and business innovation to craft solutions
for a more resilient tourism industry.
