The purpose of this course is to provide students with an advanced understanding of the classical and new trade theories as applied to trade in food and agricultural products. Students will be able to use analytical economic tools to analyze current and emerging issues in international trade. They will be exposed to current research in agricultural trade by critically reviewing and presenting journal papers, and by writing a structured term paper in an area covered in the course. In addition to trade theories, the course will cover trade issues as they are discussed and debated in WTO trade negotiations and other international trade arenas.
