The WTO Secretariat conducted a three-day seminar on the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) titled "IV Workshop Trade in Services and E-commerce" from November 7 - 9, 2018 in Sao Paulo. The seminar was conducted in support of the WTO Chair Programme in Brazil, which was headed by Dr. Vera Thorstensen.
The event brought together participants from academia and the private sector to discuss the economics of trade in services, WTO negotiations on domestic regulation, and trends in regional trade agreements (RTAs) on services. At the request of organizers, the seminar also focused on e-commerce, highlighting key economic developments, the state of discussions in the WTO, and advances in RTAs.
