Training: GVC and TiVA

Mr Christophe Degain and Dr Victor Kümmritz, from the WTO’s Economic Research and Statistics Division in Geneva, Switzerland, visited the NWU from 30 May-1 June 2017 to conduct a workshop on how a Trade in Value Added (TiVA) approach to measuring trade flows can provide greater insights into the composition of global production networks than traditional trade statistics. The WTO presenters also gave an in-depth explanation of various data sources as well as live demos of the OECD-WTO TiVA database and its various applications.
