Potential Effect of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area on Micro Small and Medium Enterprises in Kenya
Attended a Workshop titled: "Private Public Sector Dialogue on the Potential Effect of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area on Micro Small and Medium Enterprises in Kenya" held at the Raddison Blu, Upper Hill, on March 28th 2023. The meeting was organised by the CIPE. The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include anti-corruption, advocacy, business associations, corporate governance, democratic governance, access to information, the informal sector and property rights, and women and youth. The objective of the private public dialogue meeting is to discuss a policy brief on the potential effects of the AfCFTA on MSMEs in Kenya. The specific objectives were: To discuss the findings and recommendations of a study on the effect of the AfCFTA on MSMEs in Kenya; To establish a prerequisite for effective advocacy and To establish effective channels of communication between the public and private sector in regard to the implementation of the AfCFTA.
