WTO CHAIR IN VIETNAM - FOREIGN TRADE UNIVERSITY

The International Trade Law course (PLUE422), offered by the Faculty of Law at Foreign Trade University, provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework governing global trade, with a particular focus on the World Trade Organization (WTO). Building on foundational legal knowledge, the course explores the principles, agreements, and institutional structures of the WTO and its predecessor, the GATT. Students will examine key areas such as market access for goods and services, rules on unfair trade practices (including anti-dumping and subsidies), and the WTO dispute settlement mechanism.
Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical case analysis, the course equips students with the skills to interpret and apply international trade law in real-world contexts. Emphasis is placed on balancing trade liberalization with societal values such as environmental protection, public health, and development goals. By the end of the course, students will be able to critically assess legal issues in international trade, engage in legal research, and confidently address trade-related disputes, particularly those involving Vietnam.
